\n\t\n Lecture held at the Centro M\u00e9dico S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o, on April 6, 2022, in celebration of International Sports Day; where I addressed fundamental points about sport and dentistry.\n<\/strong>\n \n\nThe practice of sports is fundamental in the pursuit of health, however, the protection of teeth during physical activities has been in the background, most often, despite the face is the region most affected in any sports activity. In order to minimize accidents, mouthguards emerged. In Brazil, this practice has not been widely incorporated by athletes due to lack of awareness and inadequate use of prefabricated and universal protectors (lower cost and poor adaptation), which cause difficulties in breathing, speech and discomfort. \n\n\nHowever, all these problems are avoided by choosing to use an individualized protector, made through a mold made in the dental office. Because it is a precision work is necessary to be performed by a specialized professional.\n\n\t\t\t\t\"Protetor-Bucal-Vantagens\"\n\t\nThe main difference between the individualized mouthguard of those that are sold in gyms and even over the internet, is the fact that it is tailor-made for the athlete’s mouth, customized, personalized, with a perfect adaptation, more retentive, more comfortable, with minimal speech changes, not disturbing breathing and with maximum protection from impacts.\n\n\nThese protectors can have varied colors, images, logos, names and other details that make each protector unique.
